Biography
Andrea Nocchia was born in 1954 in an ancient village in Upper Lazio. He lives in Italy, but where it has little importance. what he creates is relevant. A complex, captivating, sensitive character, outside the box like his works, which fully reveal who he is: an eclectic, unusual, talented author. “Son and grandson of Art”, he learned the photographic medium in the family studio. In 1973 he graduated in photography at the CIAC in Rome and in the years to come he participated in seminars of authoritative photographers and directors of photography, as well as workshops of the major companies in the photographic and cinematographic fields. From 1978 to 1986 he worked as an assistant cinematographer on the production of important documentaries and various types of journalistic services for RAI and other public and private companies. In 1987 he began working as a professional photographer (registered with AFIP and Tau Visual), collaborating, among other things, with architecture studios and restoration laboratories located, mostly, in central Italy. Furthermore, from 1988 to 2001, he promoted the fruit of his personal research with moderate success among the public and critics, through various exhibitions, competitions and gallery. In 2001, due to force majeure, he abandoned photography. In 2009, after a long break dedicated, profitably, to historical, artistic, humanistic and geological studies, he reconnected with photography, picking up with enthusiasm and passion where he left off, re-proposing, through collective and personal exhibitions, and the Web (sites and social networks), in addition to his previous works, new projects and exciting images. Works by Andrea Nocchia are part of both public and private collections in Italy and abroad.
